Biography
Cypress Woods High School opened in 2006 with 60 students in the choir program consisting of just 9th and 10th graders. Under the direction of Marsha Robinson, the program grew under her leadership over the next five years until her retirement in 2011. Jason Womack, the then assistant director of the program, became the head director and remains in that position currently. He, along with assistant director Jenae Aguirre, share the responsibilities of the five performing ensembles in the program. Choirs at all levels consist of all types of student including athletes, actors, FFA members, dancers, artists, NHS members and National Merit Scholars. The choirs from Cypress Woods HS consistently receive sweepstakes ratings at UIL and have experienced success at various competitions including two invitations to perform at the TMEA Convention (2011, 2016), distinguished performances at the American Classic Madrigal and Chamber Choir Festival and an invitation to sing at Carnegie Hall in 2018.
Jason Womack graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Music Theory in 2004. After completing alternative certification, he began teaching in Cypress Fairbanks ISD at Goodson Middle School. In 2006, Jason moved to Cypress Creek High School for one year before moving to Cypress Woods High School where he has taught for the last 18 years. Jason is a member of TMEA, TCDA and TMAA and has served as Region President, Region Chair, Area Chair, All State Choir Section Leader and on the facilities team at the TMEA convention. He is the performing arts department chair at Cypress Woods and has recently completed a master's degree in educational leadership from Lamar University. Jason is happily married to his wife, Lindsay and has 4 children.
Jenae Aguirre graduated from East Texas Baptist University with a degree in Music Education in 2006. She also began teaching at Goodson Middle School in CFISD where she was the assistant director for one year before becoming the head director of Hopper Middle School. She remained at Hopper for the next eight years before becoming an assistant director at Cypress Woods High School in 2015. Jenae is a member of TMEA, TCDA and TMAA. She is married, Cesar, and they have one son.
